DAY 3: Love bears all things

Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life.-James 1:12

You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.-James 1:3
This post was supposed to come later, but I moved it up because of something I experienced today.
I had to do some transactions for the office at two different banks and when I got to the first one at 2:30 pm the queue was super long but it was moving in that moment, I said a short prayer and asked God to favour me at the next bank.

I got to the next bank and the line was even longer than at the first but to my surprise I was very calm and waited till it was my turn without frowning or complaining which is very unlike me, even when the other people on the queue started shouting and complaining and almost beat up the head of cash operations when she tried to calm them down, they insulted the people at the teller and said really mean things to the poor woman like it was her fault.

When I got home the Holy Spirit made me understand that instead of making the queue move fast like I asked when I prayed, he wanted to teach me a Lesson on patience and Love and make me realize that being patient takes nothing out of me but impatience and complaining is quite stressful to be honest.

I had been like those people a while back. I’m not a very patient person, and anytime I have no choice but to just endure, I’m not always kind or loving. I let everyone know that I’m being made to endure. Last month I went to Local government for my NYSC clearance and we were made to wait a long while. I was so upset and I kept complaining, everyone around me knew that I was very impatient about something then I said some mean things to one of the people assisting the Local government inspector that I regretted immediately and wished I had just stayed silent.

As humans, if we cannot learn to be patient for little things like queues, traffic, our fellow human beings etc, it’s going to be quite hard to learn to be patient with God and if we can’t be patient with God, it shows that we don’t trust Him, and that means we don’t have faith in Him which means we don’t Love him.

But God is not that way with us, if He treats us the way we treat Him, most of us wouldn’t even be here today but He bears it all and Loves us regardless. We annoy him, irritate him, get on his last nerves, we take His gifts for granted, but he always waits for us to get back to our senses. If that’s not true love, I don’t know what is.

Love is Patient. [ see 1 Corinthians 13:4]

Excerpt from Reduce me to Love by Joyce Meyer
A person whose life is marked by love is patient with people. He is even patient with himself, with his own weaknesses. The patient person is long-suffering and can put up with something uncomfortable for a long period of time without complaining. He has the power to endure whatever comes with good temper.

Patience is one virtue I’m constantly praying to God for because patience must be developed if we desire to have a strong love walk. And I'm glad I got to experience this today because now I know better than  to complain when I'm  in an uncomfortable situation.

Imagine if those people at the bank would've just asked what was going on and worked with the bank staff to make things move faster instead of complaining?  That would have been a true example of Love, but we don't get much of that these days which is not right.

Day 3: Love bears all things.
There's mot much of a task today, just a lesson to learn. Under pressure, not only our faith is being tested but also the strength of our Love so anytime you find yourself in similar situations, ask God for the grace to be patient in faith but first in Love because Love strengthens our faith.

  1. Awwww, this is soooo form me.
I am not a patient person too but I don't talk and complain in queues, I just seethe inside me.

God works it out of me by giving me situations that try my patience.
It's always not fun but I learn from it.

    Thanks for sharing this.
    #reduce me to love Lord

  2. That should be our constant prayer.
    Thanks Frances
